COVID-19 response for vulnerable populations

On April 1, 2020, the City of Nanaimo held an emergency, special council meeting to discuss some of the impacts of the COVID-19 crisis on our community. One of the priority concerns is the management of the vulnerable population in Nanaimo in light of the crisis.

At that meeting, it was identified that the City of Nanaimo is working with Island Health and BC Housing to assist in planning for accommodating those experiencing homelessness who may need to be isolated as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Health and Housing Task Force will reconvene and work with the Nanaimo Homeless Coalition to identify strategies to assist those experiencing homelessness in Nanaimo during the COVID-19 pandemic. Read the full news release from the City, here.
