Feb 2020 | Homelessness
On March 12, 2020, Nanaimo will participate in a national Point-in-Time Count to gather information and data about those affected by homelessness.
Led by the Nanaimo Homeless Coalition, Nanaimo Region John Howard Society, and United Way Central & Northern Vancouver Island, trained volunteers will survey individuals staying in shelters, short-term housing and sleeping rough on the streets.
The Point-in-Time Count is essential to us understanding how residents are falling into homelessness and what their needs are. The Count also helps us direct where further resources and services are needed to support those living on the street.
The Point-in-Time Count is a huge undertaking and requires the participation of the local community. If you’d like to give back and learn more about homelessness, this is a great opportunity!
